The Faroese national anthem Tú alfagra land mítt (My Beautiful Country) was written by Símun av Skarði in 1906, and the melody was composed by Petur Alberg in 1907.
The song quickly became a symbol of the Faroese national movement and was later recognised as the national anthem of the Faroe Islands.
