Personalities
connected with Gotthard Railway Tunnel: Louis Favre: (1826-1879) the chief
engineer of Gotthard Tunnel, J.H. Alfred Escher (1819-1882): Adm. President and
Emil Welti (1825-1899): signed the contract on behalf of Switzerland for the
use of Gotthard Tunnel by Germany and Italy. All these three personalities have
been commemorated with 3 postage stamps with denominations 10c, 20c, and 30c
issued in 1932 (Fig.10-12).
