In these Windows the
colours are luscious shades of rich reds and deep blues, yellows and greens in
smaller quantity. The pieces of coloured glass are very small and when viewed
from a distance the difference between the colours is lost, the whole becomes a
purple of wonderful richness. Details were painted in brown enamel with the
glass. The figures always small in the early 12th Century glass -were used in a
series of medallions each one telling some sacred or legendary story usually
taken from the scriptures and included scenes from the lives of Christ, the
Saints and the Virgin Mary.
