TORTOISE OR TURTLE?
Those who have been collecting animals on stamps must have realised after a considerable time in terms of years of collection that most of the countries have been issuing stamps on animals found not only within their own geographical boundaries; but also on animals in their zoological gardens. For the last 20-30 years it has been found that several countries have been busy issuing stamp series comprising of even as many as 20 different stamps with wild animals. With the years it is becoming almost impossible to collect all stamps on animals in order to form a “domestic zoo” in the stock book. For such philatelists or stamp collectors there is no other way left than to restrict their choice for a particular animal, which the compiler may define as his or her favourite.
