Abstract from “Points to Ponder” in last issue of the magazine

Amongst coming philatelic exhibitions in India, major one is INDIPEX-2011 [World Philatelic Exhibition] to be held at New Delhi from 12th to 18th February 2011. This will be organised by INDIA POST in collaboration with Philatelic Congress of India [PCI] and under patronage of Federation of International Philately [FIP] and under auspices of Federation Inter Asian Philately [FIAP]. A website particularly devoted to this exhibition also launched by the department at http://www.indipex2011.com/index.php But we are sorry to point out that this is not updating regularly with required information for all philatelists, they have not incorporate even the details and photographs of special set of stamps issued by the department specially for promotion of this exhibition.

Presentation: All elements of an exhibit are really important but, in one way or the other, I feel that “Presentation” could be the most important, although it usually has the least number of points allocated to it. And I think many people tend not to give it all the attention it deserves. For the same I would like to clear what is meant by “Presentation”. Its simple answer is how your exhibit look like. Exhibitors should remember that old adage – first impressions always count more.

The Birth Centenary of Dr. Dwarkanath Shantaram Kotnis By - Avinash B Jagtap

Dr. Dwarkanath Shantaram Kotnis was born on October 10, 1910 in a middle class Maharashtrian family in Solapur. He studied medicine at G. S. Medical College of Bombay University and got his M.B.B.S. in 1936. Thereafter he worked as a residential physician. He ardently wished to get higher education in surgery. In February 1938, the annual session of All India Congress Committee was held at Haripura under the Chairmanship of Subhas Chandra Bose. Under the leadership of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru a special resolution was passed during the Haripura session, whereby it was proposed that a delegation of Indian physicians should be sent to China to help the Chinese people who were engaged in combating the invading Japanese forces.
